Unlocking the diversity of wild and domesticated rice
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The construction of a ‘pangenome’ sequence collection that incorporates the genomes of nearly 150 wild and cultivated rice varieties captures all the genetic diversity found in this plant. It reveals genes associated with disease resistance that are unique to wild rice, and provides insights into the origins of domesticated rice. A pangenome of wild and domesticated rice reveals genes that could be used to improve cultivated plants.
