Abstract: This work consists of a scientific essay prepared from bibliographical research. The guiding question of this study was to identify possible relationships between griots and repentista singers from the Northeast of Brazil. The insufficiency of documents and works in the field of literature that discuss probable links between phenomena demonstrates the difficulties of tracing this historical narrative, revealing numerous epistemic mistakes in its approach, almost always linked to historical-structural comparisons, in an attempt to identify aesthetic similarities and performative between practices. Due to this, this study intends not to point out “historical heredities”, but to highlight points of similarities between the groups, unveiling a part in the flow of the performance formation of the sudden northeastern. The preliminary analysis points to a possible cultural confluence between the manifestations, both due to aesthetic-performative-structural issues, and due to the social functions themselves.
