Abstract: The author presents his vision of the formation of the enemy image as an instrument of foreign policy of states during the Cold War. He emphasizes the results of factor analysis, which allowed to formulate conclusions about the importance of the enemy image in the confrontational state of the international environment in the second half of the twentieth century.
