Abstract: The research is devoted to the study of the features of affixal combinatorics of the terms of the energy sphere of the English language as forming the basis of the professional sublanguage. This article presents a morphological analysis of the terms of the energy theme of the English language. The purpose of the study is to determine the features of affixal combinatorics in the terminology of the energy sector. The scientific novelty is that the dominant prefixes and affixes functioning in combination in the energy sector have been identified. The results showed that the potential of affixal combinatorics in English is high, that is, there are terms containing both a prefix and an affix at the same time. Five prefixes are involved in the implementation of affixal combinatorics consisting of 246 terms. The most productive affixal combinations among energy terms are the prefixes eletro- and trans-. The spelling is characterized by both fused and hyphenated prefix addition. The most productive affix combinations among energy terms are the affixes –ic and -ion. The phenomenon of affixal combinatorics is inherent in English terms of any professional field.
