Advancements in Understanding Neurogenesis in Alzheimer's Disease: Current Research and Insights
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is increasingly impacting the aging global population, with its prevalence and mortality rates rising steadily. This trend severely affects the quality of life and intensifies the economic strain on both families and society. Despite ongoing research, effective treatments remain elusive. However, enhancing neurogenesis in the hippocampal dentate gyrus (DG) to promote the formation of new neurons and replace those lost in AD patients' hippocampus holds promise as a potential strategy to improve cognitive and memory functions, offering hope for delaying or even treating the disease.
