Abstract: Non-natural biotransformations, such as alkene cyclopropanation through carbene insertion, have been demonstrated for the hemoproteins cytochrome P450 and myoglobin, but have not been investigated for unspecific peroxygenases (UPOs). Here we demonstrate that the diastereo- and enantioselective cyclopropanation of styrenes with ethyldiazoacetate can be performed by the class I enzyme artUPO.
