Aiken Index Analysis to Determine the Content Validity of an Instrument Measuring Junior High School Students' Preparedness for Earthquake Disasters in Physical Education
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study aims to develop and test the validity of content instruments for measuring the preparedness of junior high school students toward earthquakes in physical education (PE). This instrument is designed to evaluate four main aspects of preparedness: understanding earthquake simulations, physical readiness, actions during simulations, and attitudes toward simulations. The validity content instrument was evaluated using the Aiken index method, which involves evaluations from five experts in the field of disaster preparedness, PE, and education measurement. The experts were requested to evaluate the relevance and appropriateness of each statement using a four-point scale, starting from 1 (not relevant) to 4 (very relevant). Analysis results show that Aiken’s V value for all statements is above 0.87 which is the threshold that indicates good content validity. Rate this show that grains in instrument the considered relevant and representative for measure preparedness student to earthquake. Findings show that the developed instrument is valid and contains adequate and usable content, making it an effective tool for measuring disaster and earthquake preparedness among junior high school students in PE settings. This instrument is expected to function as an effective tool to improve students’ understanding of risk, knowledge of emergency response, and mental and physical preparedness for earthquakes. This preparedness can help minimize the impact of disasters in schools.
