Abstract: This study aims to identify the presence of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) among healthcare workers in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Dr. J.H. Awaloei Hospital in Manado. The research employed a descriptive observational design with a cross-sectional approach, where samples were collected from healthcare workers in the ICU and tested using MSA media, catalase, coagulase tests, and antibiotic susceptibility testing using the Kirby-Bauer method. The results revealed that out of 22 samples analyzed, 63.6% were identified as Staphylococcus aureus, with 4.54% showing resistance to the antibiotic cefoxitin, indicating the presence of MRSA. This finding provides insight into the prevalence of MRSA among healthcare workers at this hospital, which represents a significant risk factor for the spread of healthcare-associated infections. The implications of this study are crucial for strengthening infection control policies in hospitals, particularly in monitoring MRSA. Hospitals need to tighten infection control measures by improving hand hygiene practices, enhancing the use of personal protective equipment, and managing antibiotics more prudently. This research also lays the foundation for the development of more effective policies to prevent the spread of MRSA in hospital settings, contributing to overall improvements in healthcare service quality.
