Type: article
Abstract: Thermodynamic calculations of the standard enthalpy of reaction and adiabatic temperature confirmed the possibility of tuning the combustion reactions exothermicity in the case of LiMgPO 4 , by using oxidizing mixtures of lithium and magnesium nitrates and perchlorates together with citric acid and phosphoric acid. Using the LiClO 4 and Mg(NO 3 ) 2 mixture allowed the formation of pure LiMgPO 4 directly from the combustion reaction, with an average crystallite size of 60 nm. The sintering behavior of LiMgPO 4 powder was investigated by varying the temperature and duration of the sintering process. Increasing the sintering temperature from 900 °C to 1000 °C, for a period of 4 h promoted the increase of the relative density from 76.4 % to 99.3 %. Remarkably, the relative density of LiMgPO 4 sintered at 1000 °C for 30 min was 97.0 %. The obtained results illustrate the excellent sintering behavior of LiMgPO 4 powder prepared by solution combustion synthesis.
