The Impact of Using Wordwall Interactive Games on English Vocabulary Acquisition: Evidence From Saudi Arabia
Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Clinical Trial
Abstract: This study aims to explore the impact of Wordwall interactive games on vocabulary acquisition among Saudi EFL learners. The study participants comprised 100 students from an elementary school in Saudi Arabia. They were equally divided into two groups: the experimental group and the control groups. To achieve this, a quasi-experimental design with the two groups was employed, aligning with the study's nature and objectives. For data collection, the researchers developed an achievement test to evaluate the participants’ vocabulary acquisition. The experimental group was taught using Wordwall interactive games, whereas the control group was taught using the traditional approach. The results of the study revealed that employing Wordwall games in teaching and learning English vocabulary yields more gains than using the conventional approach, as the analysis showed statistically significant differences in performance between the two groups: the experimental group performed better in the test than the control group. Based on the findings, the researchers recommended that Wordwall games be used in teaching English vocabulary at all levels.
