Abstract: Mine sites, particularly those with informal or unregulated operations, often lack higher educational opportunities for employee children, leading to limited prospects. Mine sites, especially in developing countries, may not have adequate schools, libraries, or educational resources, making it difficult for children to access quality education. Even if the employee children manage to complete primary and secondary education, they may lack the resources or opportunities to pursue higher education, perpetuating a cycle of non-retention of local talent. The mining companies should invest in building and maintaining schools in mining communities, providing educational resources, and offering scholarships for higher education. There are very good examples all over the world that can be benchmarked to provide similar experiences for the children of the employees to succeed.
