Abstract: This is an accepted article with a DOI pre-assigned that is not yet published. This study explores the portrayal of women’s social roles in literary contributions within Elliniki Epitheorisis, a general interest magazine published and directed by Eugenia Zografou. Launched in Athens in 1907 and published continuously until 1941, with brief resurgences in 1944 and 1946, this publication constitutes an interesting case study of women’s literary response to the Woman Question due to its extensive duration throughout the first half of the 20th century, its diverse thematic scope, and its differentiation from both purely literary and women’s magazines. Drawing from primary sources and focusing mainly on short stories, along with references to poetry and theatre, the analysis illustrates Elliniki Epitheorisis’s role in showcasing women’s experiences amid social transformations and shifting norms in the early 20th century, providing insights into their evolving female identity.
