Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study aims to examine the application of storytelling methods in literacy teaching to support the social-emotional development of early childhood in KB-TK Darusalam. The storytelling method, known for its universal appeal, offers an integrative approach to developing children's literacy as well as social-emotional skills. This study uses a literature study method to analyze data from various recent scientific literature. The results show that the storytelling method, through interactive delivery techniques, the use of supporting media, and the active involvement of children, significantly improves literacy skills, such as vocabulary, narrative structure, and reading interest. In addition, this method also contributes to the development of children's empathy, emotional regulation, and social skills. Implementation challenges include time constraints, variations in teacher competencies, and resource constraints, which can be overcome through ongoing training, collaboration with parents, and technology optimization. This study recommends an evidence-based storytelling approach as an effective holistic learning model for early childhood education.
