Abstract: In this interview, conducted by Ana Beatriz C. Rezende, Vera Passos, a prominent Brazilian figure in the Silvestre Technique, overviews the history, structure, and principles of this Bahian technique in contemporary dance, created and developed by Rosângela Silvestre since 1982. The conversation addresses points related to the relevance of tradition in Black artistic practices and offers reflections on the possibilities of dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity and the potentials that can be perceived at this crossroads.
