Application of image recognition technology in road defect recognition

Abstract: Compared with the traditional road defect detection method, the detection method based on image recognition technology can greatly improve the detection efficiency. Edge detection algorithm is the basis of image recognition technology, which affects the accuracy and efficiency of image recognition. In this paper, the basic principles of three common edge detection operators are outlined, and the advantages and disadvantages of different algorithms are compared through application examples of road pothole and crack. The results can provide reference for the application of image recognition technology in road defect recognition.
