Abstract: Turkish is a language rich in idioms and proverbs, which form an important part of Turkish society’s cultural heritage. Proverbs and idioms play a vital role in education and the transmission of culture, reflecting deep elements of Turkish identity. As mirrors of shared language and culture, proverbs serve as significant components that capture cultural references from daily life. This study examines the hypothesis that the Hazaras have Turkish-Mongolian origins, with historical roots extending to the era of Genghis Khan. The research focuses on the proverbs and idioms common to both Hazaras and Turks. Some researchers assert that the Hazaragi dialect is derived from Old Turkish. The presence of Turkish-origin words, which are still in use today, suggests that part of the Hazara ancestry spoke Turkish. Over time, while adopting the Dari dialect of Persian as their primary language, the Hazaras enriched it with Turkish vocabulary. In Afghanistan, Hazaras are renowned for their use of proverbs and idioms. These proverbs reflect the community’s character and the challenges they have faced throughout history. Despite losing their original language, the notion that the Hazaras have Turkish roots persists. Further exploration of Hazara proverbs and idioms will provide greater understanding of their cultural connection to Turkish heritage. This study aims to analyze the shared proverbs and idioms to explore the cultural ties between the two groups. Key Words: Afghanistan, Turks, Hazaras, Proverbs.
