Abstract: Technology industry is faced with a very rapidly increasing demand for innovation, speed, and responsiveness, and this places a huge burden on engineering teams to deliver maximum performance. Building and maintaining high-performing engineering teams, however, is a complex challenge, and such underlying drivers as talent building, team chemistry, and leadership style are essential to driving success. This research aims to close the existing knowledge gap on understanding the drivers directly influencing the efficacy of engineering teams in the tech industry. Even though a good deal of current literature places strong emphasis on individual characteristics of the team members or isolated leadership behaviors, there is no overarching insight into how such drivers intersect with one another in the rapidly moving and rapidly evolving digital space. The main objective of this research is to investigate how different factors, such as team culture, leadership, skill diversification, communication practices, and organizational support, all come together to develop high-performing engineering teams. In addition, this research will evaluate the impacts of modern management tools, remote work practices, and increasing importance of diversity and inclusion in engineering teams. Based on qualitative and quantitative analysis, this research will outline effective practices for maximizing engineering team performance and suggest a team development model that can be tailored to different organizational environments. The results are intended to provide practical suggestions for technology leaders, human resource managers, and organizational development practitioners who must maximize the productivity and job satisfaction of their engineering teams in a more competitive and dynamic environment.
