Abstract: This Study presents the conceptual design of a pearl millet crop cutter utilizing the Scotch Yoke mechanism to achieve efficient and precise cutting action. The Scotch Yoke mechanism converts rotary motion into reciprocating motion, enabling smooth and consistent blade movement for slicing millet stalks.Key design aspects, including blade curvature, bevel angle, and material selection, are optimized to ensure effective cutting with minimal energy input. The design emphasizes simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and ergonomic usability, providing a practical solution for small-scale millet harvesting. This work aims to contribute to the mechanization of millet harvesting, enhancing efficiency and reducing manual labour.
