Abstract: In this study, the influence of the spatial deformations on the upper shaft of big band saw machines is investigated.Deformation checks for the most endangered cross sections of the shaft are performed.For this purpose, an algorithm that includes analytical and numerical part has been developed.Theoretical expressions for calculating the spatial deformations are derived.These expressions are used to calculate the maximum deflections in the most endangered cross sections.The biggest values are compared with the admissible values for the respective material.Normal operation of the shaft, and therefore of the band saw machine is guaranteed if the actual values of the deformations are equal or less than the admissible values.
