Investigation of Hot Deformation Behavior and Dynamic Recrystallization Simulation of Ti–Zr Microalloyed Steel

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Hot deformation behavior and dynamic recrystallization (DRX) behavior of Ti–Zr microalloyed steel are investigated through isothermal compression tests under deformation temperatures range of 900–1050 °C and strain rates range of 0.01–10 s −1 . Based on the analysis of stress–strain curves, an Arrhenius model with strain compensation is established. The correlation coefficient and average absolute relative error calculated according to the model are 0.99 and 4.37%, respectively. Utilizing the experimental results and relevant physical models, a cellular automaton model is developed to predict the DRX characteristics and microstructure evolution. As the deformation temperature increases, the DRX nucleation and growth of austenite in Ti–Zr microalloyed steel are promoted. An increase in strain rate results in a higher proportion of fine DRX grains, with the most complete DRX occurring at 0.01 s −1 and a multimodal microstructure observed at 10 s −1 . The strain rate primarily regulates the austenite grain size after DRX in Ti–Zr microalloyed steel by influencing nucleation density. The accuracy of the constructed cellular automaton model is verified through a detailed comparison between the simulated predictions and the results.
