Abstract: The paper deals with the life and activities of the famous Ukrainian hetman of the XVII century Pyotr Doroshenko in the Vyatka Region of Russia. For the first time in the scientific literature, the author clearly defined the years of his service as the Vyatka voivode – 1682 - 1684. Besides, based on rare sources, his contribution to the rebuiding of the fortress of the Khlynov town, the capital of the Vyatka Voivodeship, was determined.
