Analysis and Production of Wedding Upstyle Tasks: Focused on the 2019 and 2020 Regional and National Skills Competitions
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study aims to analyze the design characteristics and styling techniques of the wedding upstyle tasks newly introduced in the 2019 and 2020 regional and national skills competitions, and to present them as technical guidelines applicable to both professional practice and educational settings. Skills competitions play a crucial role in fostering highly skilled professionals, and in recent years, the tasks have been revised to emphasize practicality and commercial relevance. Through the analysis of the competition tasks during this period, it was confirmed that various practice-oriented techniques—such as mesh, twisting, rolling, and half-ring techniques—were actively employed. The 2019 task emphasized exaggerated form as a creative piece designed for competition, whereas the 2020 task reflected contemporary wedding trends and presented practical styles suitable for salon environments. Based on this analysis, it is suggested that beauty education institutions can develop step-by-step training programs by technique, and that salons can utilize these styles as client-customized references. This study demonstrates that the wedding upstyle tasks in skills competitions are not merely creative works for contests but are technically valuable practices for real-world applications, highlighting the need for further systematic research on skills competition tasks across the beauty industry.
