Study on the Performance of Banyan Cellulose Fiber Reinforced Geopolymer Concrete

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: In order to improve the mechanical properties of cellulose fiber-reinforced geopolymer concrete, this investigation focuses on the use of explicit banyan cellulose fibre (CFRGPC). The same volume of concrete ingredients was used to create the fibre reinforced concrete as before; however, the cellulose fibre content (as measured by weight of binder used) varied between 1% and 5% from banyan prop root. The study's primary focus was on finding ways to utilise sustainable materials that exist naturally or can be manufactured independently. The roots of the banyan tree were processed to remove the cellulose, and the fibres are used to make a type of reinforced concrete. Sustainability is a growing priority in any industry, and FRGPC production is a step in the right direction. It has been shown that the durability of FRGPC can be improved by adding cellulose fibres, which have been shown to boost durability in FRGPC. Compressive strength was calculated following a period of immersion in acid and sulphate solutions to examine the durability properties of Cellulose fibre reinforced geopolymer concrete (CFRGPC) and Cellulose fibre reinforced polymer concrete (FRPC). As a result, reinforced geopolymer concrete buildings benefit from greater tensile and flexure effects when cellulose fibre is used in the concrete mix. Researching how cellulose fibre affects the mechanical behaviour of geopolymer concrete is, thus, crucial. Microstructure of geoplymer concrete examined by scanning electron microscopy (scanning electron microscope). Key Words: Fiber-reinforced concrete, geopolymer concrete, banyan cellulose, FRPC, sustainability, Microstructure.
