The Role of Presepsin in Differentiating Between Bacterial and Viral Infections in Young Infants With Fever of Unknown Origin on the Emergency Department
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Presepsin has limited discriminative value between bacterial and viral infections in young infants at the emergency department, because the majority of bacterial infections concern a urinary tract infection, in which plasma presepsin was not elevated. The diagnostic accuracy of presepsin for sepsis in this population could not be established due to a low incidence of sepsis cases.
