Abstract: Polarized Sound (DSP Digital Effects Pedal) Introduction:This paper will detail a senior project in which the team design a digital effects pedal for musicians. This effects pedal will give a user the ability to experience a variety of guitar effects that they otherwise would have to purchase individually, all in the same pedal. This allows a musician, especially those newer to effects, to get exposure to the different types of effects, without having to invest in each effect individually.Digital effect pedals already exist on the market, such as the Neural DSP 1 , Line 6 1 , Fractal Audio 1 , and Kemper 1 .These brands have a very loyal customer base, making it difficult for new digital effects pedals to find their way into the market. However, these pedals also are typically more expensive and can have a learning curve due to the capabilities of the effects, which can make it more difficult for a new musician to justify the cost.Designing a digital effects pedal with cost and simpler user experience in mind, will help differentiate our product on the market. The capstone team is on track with creating this digital effects pedal, and the remainder of this paper will present an overview of the problem, current solutions on the market, and the designed solution to the problem.
