Abstract: In order to investigate the key influencing factors on the formation of vocational skills of college students, the role of students' age, gender, academic performance and practical experience on the development of vocational skills was investigated using multiple regression analysis and cluster analysis. The data were obtained from the vocational skills assessment dataset for college students, and the variables included course grades, average scores on exams, the number of internship experiences, and employment satisfaction. The results showed that students' academic performance and practical engagement had a significant effect on the level of vocational skills, especially the role of employment satisfaction with course grades. Cluster analysis further reveals the distribution of characteristics of different student groups in the formation of vocational skills, which provides empirical evidence for educational management and vocational skills guidance in colleges and universities.
