INVESTIGATION OF ELECTROCATALYTIC PROPERTIES OF ELECTRODEPOSITED Sb2Se3 THIN FILMS IN NEUTRAL MEDIUM
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The electrocatalytic characteristics of Sb2Se3 thin films prepared by electrochemical technique were examined for the evolution of hydrogen by the electrolysis of water. The thermally treated Sb2Se3 samples obtained from a non-aqueous electrolyte were studied on the Ni electrode for determining their catalytic activity in the process of water electrolysis. According to the calculated, Sb2Se3 exhibit the lowest Tafel slope in comparison to Pt and Ni electrodes. According to photoelectrochemical investigations, these samples are light-sensitive and can be employed as a photocathode in the hydrogen evolution reaction. Extrapolating the C-2-E plot onto the potential axis results in a flat band potential Vfb of -1.45 V (compared to Ag/AgCl). The value precisely represents the electrodeposited p-type semiconductor Sb2Se3's thermodynamic capacity to generate hydrogen from water under given conditions
