Challenges Facing Legal Science. Part I. Dogmatism or Interdisciplinarity?

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Introduction. The article deals with the problem of determining the directions of further development of legal science. Purpose. The need to place greater emphasis on interdisciplinary research is justified. Methodology. The author used general scientific and interdisciplinary methods and approaches, in particular analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, abstraction, a systematic approach, and content analysis. Results. In jurisprudence, the emphasis is on dogmatism, an attempt to isolate one's own methodology. The article argues for the absence of specific legal research methods, in particular dogmatic and comparative legal ones. It is stated that science itself is a unified system of scientific information, and the allocation of certain areas in it is only a certain convention. It is noted that jurisprudence is aimed at studying the process of regulating public relations, which manifest themselves through acts of behavior (actions, inaction) and related events. It is the person and his behavior that forms an important part of the subject of legal research. Conclusion. The application of an interdisciplinary approach in jurisprudence will significantly enrich its theoretical base, provided that the knowledge gained in related fields of science is correctly used.
