Abstract: Caregivers are critical in the support of patients with chronic illness and disability. Caregiving demands can have physical and emotional impacts which can be exacerbated if caregivers have chronic illnesses themselves. Yet, research on physical health of US caregivers with chronic conditions particularly those with cardiovascular disease is limited. In this study, we examined the influence of history of myocardial infarction (MI) on reported physical health in the past 30 days among a nationally representative sample of US caregivers.
