Abstract: The research sheet includes questioning the relationship between the Algerian intellectual and the authority on the one hand, and extremist terrorism on the other hand, in the midst of the developments and events that Algeria has experienced during the black decade, trying to reveal this image clearly in a general critical reading of the cultural, social, political and ideological course of this same intellectual in circumstances imposed on him.We will try to treat the position of the intellectual in light of the previously mentioned changes to reveal the extent of his negativism and the positivity of the reflexion towards the crisis that swept Algeria during the nineties, and for this we will focus on studying a collection of novels that chronicled this period, and on the tragic events experienced by the Algerian intellectual as well as by the people as a whole with its cultural and intellectual differences.Among these works, we mention Al cham`aa wa Al Dahaliz (The Candle and the Corridors) by the novelist Tahar Ouetter and Sayyidat al-Maqam (The Lady of the Shrine) by Waciny Laredj …and other novels that dealt with the intellectual during the black decade.Since the Algerian intellectual has lived a real crisis which is the imprisoned freedom, amid the miserable daily life which kills the flame of thought and creativity in him, or confine him in religious extremism, we question: How was his view of authority, history and religion in the midst of the crisis?And how did he convey it to us from his point of view and the point of view of others?
