Designing hybrid and XR narrative applications: a framework to describe authoring tools in cultural domain
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Existing Authoring Tools (ATs) allow a no-coding-required approach in the development of Interactive Digital Narratives (IDN), serious games, Virtual and Augmented Reality experiences (AR / VR), including Internet of Things (IoT) features for applications in Cultural Heritage. Specially in Virtual Museums and Hybrid Exhibitions, there is an increasing need to design meaningful experiences that seamlessly mix such different approaches. This paper proposes a framework to describe and compare usability and flexibility of different ATs, facilitating tools’ selection process with a high level overview.
