Abstract: Council members voted overwhelmingly in favour of a new BVA policy position calling for a ban on contemporary sow farrowing crates (see pp 331 and 370). Gemma Thwaites, president of the Pig Veterinary Society, which had helped to draft the policy position, said it had been a ‘long road’ to get to the position but the ‘huge amount of work done has been all to the positive’.
