Abstract: The subject of the study in the article is the analysis of the dynamics of ekphrastic inclusions in the works of A. Matveeva «The enviable feeling of Vera Stenina», «Armastan. I love you too», «Picture girls». The purpose of the article is, based on the metapoetic function of ekphrasis, to consider the change in the types of ekphrasis as evidence of the search for a new artistic language in modern Russian literature, focused on the study of everyday reality («new realism»). The analysis of the works from the point of view of hermeneutical, sociological and structural-semantic methods allows us to conclude that the author's reflection on the process of changing cultural epochs, including the problem of the relationship between art and reality, is reflected in the works of A. Matveeva. This is evidenced first by the dominance of ekphrastic gestures instead of detailed descriptions, then by the exclusion of the perception of paintings using the «world through the eyes of a child» technique and, finally, the rejection of the interpretation of paintings, which is replaced by an interest in non-textual reality. There is a modification of the technique of «entering the picture», the demetaphorization of art historical terms that reflect the process of de-aestheticizing the perception of art by contemporaries, corresponding to the configuration of the cultural field that is determined by the tastes of the mass audience and the commercialization of art in the modern situation
