Electrocatalysis and Electrosynthesis

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Electrochemical reactions and studies to investigate the relationship between electrical energy and chemistry changes are important for modern chemistry.Electrocatalysis underpins critical energy technologies such as fuel cells, metal-air batteries, and water electrolyzers, while electrosynthesis enables the precise and sustainable production of high-value organic compounds under mild conditions. This special issue highlights advances in electrocatalyst design, mechanistic studies, computational modeling, and experimental methodologies, offering a comprehensive perspective on the structure-activity relationships that govern electrochemical processes. This Special Issue comprises 17 papers, including 5 reviews and 12 research articles. We sincerely appreciate the authors' valuable works and dedication to this collection.Below is a concise summary of the 17 accepted papers:Hydrogen Production and Utilization: Advancements in hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalysts are critical for green hydrogen.Chuanbo Gao (10.1002/adsu.202500381)reports highentropy alloy nanowires (PtRuNiCuPb) with 14.5 times higher mass activity than Pt/C for hydrogen oxidation.Xu and his co-works (10.1002/adsu.202400041)reveal how strong metalsupport interactions in Ru/CoP optimize hydrogen adsorption, rivaling Pt/C in alkaline HER.In addition, Bo and his colleagues (10.1002/adsu.202400815)introduce P-doped NiCuV cathodes with cathodic protection, achieving 270-h stability at 1.0 A cm -2 .Lee and his co-workers (10.1002/adsu.202400587)present that lattice-expanded Ni-MoO 2 underscores the role of electronic structure modulation in enhancing HER activity in alkaline media.
