Use of Hypnosis During Interrogation

Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Interrogation, as one of the investigative actions, plays a decisive role in solving crimes and identifying criminals. According to the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, witnesses and victims are required to give testimony. However, the trauma or confusion caused by the incident hinders their ability to focus on the details of the event. As a result, they may not be able to provide detailed testimony that could help solve the crime. Everything a person sees, hears, and feels is recorded in their subconscious. It should be taken into account that most of the brain's memory is organized by information contained in the subconscious. In fact, witnesses or victims may subconsciously record what they think they did not see or hear. Access to this important information can be gained through hypnosis. In this regard, the article will discuss the experience of countries where hypnosis is used legally and its status in our national legislation.
