Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: This article explores the current state and prospects of using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in forensic expertise aimed at providing significant assistance in making procedural decisions in criminal cases. The development of AI in this field opens new opportunities for forensic experts, while also raising a number of concerns and risks. The study analyzes the application of AI for making procedural decisions in forensic expertise, as well as in other fields, taking into account the experience of different countries and conducting a comparative analysis. The findings indicate that forensic psychiatry takes the lead in applying AI technologies in forensic expertise. Based on the research, generalizations, and analysis of national and international scientific experience, the authors identify the main areas of AI application in forensic expertise and highlight aspects that require further detailed analysis and development. The use of AI in this field allows for a significant change in the approach to analyzing processes and optimizing the interpretation of expert data. However, despite the high potential of AI, the human factor remains decisive in making final procedural decisions. The main goal of AI is not to fully replace the unique qualities and capabilities of humans, but to effectively support the multifaceted activities of forensic experts. At this stage of technological development, the role of specialists in correctly interpreting context and justifying decisions is of particular importance. The article also provides an analysis of AI application in forensic expertise using SWOT analysis to assess strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The research findings confirm that the introduction of AI aspects into the procedural practice of forensic expertise should be based on a wellgrounded approach and thorough analysis.
