Abstract: This study analyzes the dynamics of women's participation in the hotel sector of El Pangui canton, located in the Amazon region of Ecuador. Using a qualitative, exploratory-descriptive approach based on semi-structured interviews with 22 women (18 operational workers and 4 legal representatives or owners), the study reveals that female employment in the local hotel sector is characterized by multifunctionality, job precariousness, and low access to decision-making positions. The findings show that 100% of women perform operational tasks with high job versatility, but without formal contracts or access to social security. The dual burden of paid work and domestic responsibilities significantly limits professional development opportunities. Despite facing structural barriers such as salary gaps, limited access to technical training, and gender stereotypes, the women interviewed demonstrate resilience, agency, and aspirations for empowerment through tourism. The study highlights the need for public policies that promote the formalization of employment, access to technical education with a gender perspective, the strengthening of community care networks, and the promotion of female leadership in the tourism sector. It concludes that tourism, if designed with an inclusive and equitable approach, can be a strategic tool for gender equity and sustainable development in rural and Amazonian territories
