Determination of the lifting height of particulate solids after detonation of borehole charge in an iron ore open pit

Abstract: The purpose of the work is determination of the height of particulate solids lifting in an iron ore open pit after detonation of the borehole charge. The paper considers the upward motion of large spherical iron ore particles under the action of dynamic impulse during detonation of the borehole charge. The detonation products are ejected from an inclined borehole drilled on the surface of the open pit ledge. In result of integration of the equation of motion of spherical particle, formulas for determining the time and height of its ascent are obtained. The self-similar mode of particle flow is considered. Graphical dependences of the lifting height of spherical particle of iron ore on its diameter and angle of inclination of the borehole are plotted. The obtained results are in agreement with the experimental data
