Artificial Intelligence: Transforming Public Health

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly emerging as a transformative force across various sectors and its potential impact on public health is particularly profound. This paper explores the diverse applications of AI in revolutionizing public health practices, from disease surveillance and outbreak prediction to personalized interventions and health equity promotion. We examine how AI algorithms can analyze vast datasets, identify patterns and generate insights that would be impossible for humans to discern, leading to more effective and efficient public health strategies. The paper delves into specific examples, such as AI-powered diagnostic tools, predictive modeling for disease spread and chatbots for health education.Furthermore, we discuss the challenges and ethical considerations associated with AI implementation in public health, including data privacy, algorithmic bias and the need for transparency and accountability. We argue that while AI offers immense promise for improving population health outcomes, careful planning, collaboration and ethical frameworks are crucial to ensure its responsible and equitable deployment. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of AI in public health, highlighting its potential benefits, addressing the associated challenges and outlining future directions for research and implementation.
