The Effect of Using Music in the Classroom on the Learning Motivation of Students in the Primary Stage From a Teacher's Perspective
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: This study aims to explore the conditions for enhancing students' motivation to learn during lessons, particularly through the integration of music. To achieve this, the researcher conducted semi-structured interviews with four elementary school teachers, using an interpretive analysis based on some learning theories to gain a deep understanding of the impact of integrating music on the motivation of elementary students to learn from the perspectives of the four teachers. The results revealed three themes:1. Students' Motivation to Learn, which included six categories: low motivation, difficulty in learning, lack of interest in results, enthusiasm for learning, task completion, and student attendance.2. The Importance of Music for the Lesson (Content and Classroom Environment), which consisted of four categories: the purpose of using music, the effect of music on students, how music is integrated, and students' responsiveness.3. The Importance of Music in Enhancing Students' Learning Motivation, which described behavioral actions that demonstrate students' motivation, categorized into three aspects: student engagement, desire to perform, and performance quality. The researcher recommends that music be directed and integrated as a fundamental part of the educational process in lessons.Additionally, it is suggested that teachers receive training on how to use music effectively to maximize its impact. The study further recommends expanding the research process through "observation" and conducting interviews with students, as well as incorporating music into the school curriculum.
