Characteristics of the geriatric status in patients aged 60 years and older with a diagnosed osteoarthritis
Year: 2025

Abstract: BACKGROUND. The risk of developing osteoarthritis increases with age: in the age group of 65–74 years old it is 49 %; in the group of 75–84 years old it is 61.1 %; and in the group over 85 years old it is 64.4 %. The rising prevalence of osteoarthritis leads to reduced mobility, loss of autonomy, increased disability, and a growing financial burden on the healthcare system. However, the number of publications addressing the association between geriatric syndromes and osteoarthritis remains limited. Individual studies often focus on the relationship between specific geriatric syndromes and osteoarthritis rather than assessing the overall geriatric status.
