This study, titled "Deixis and its Role in Constructing Identity and Otherness in the Israeli Political Discourse of Ariel Sharon and Naftali Bennett: A Pragmatic Study," explores the pivotal role of deixis in shaping identity and defining otherness within Israeli political discourse. Employing a pragmatic approach, the study analyzes a selected corpus of political speeches by Ariel Sharon and Naftali Bennett, focusing on their use of various types of deixis (personal, spatial, temporal, textual, and social). The aim is to understand how deixis is utilized in specific contexts to achieve particular communicative goals, such as constructing national identity, portraying the other, and justifying policies, in light of pragmatic theories (speech act theory, presupposition theory, and implicature theory). The study anticipates revealing the deictic strategies used by Sharon and Bennett to construct Israeli identity and define the other
