‘Sein’ und ‘haben’ im Lulesaami – Morphosyntaktische Obskuritäten in einer Wiederausgabe ausgewählter Texte Just Qvigstads

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The scope of this study is an evaluation of disguised (and unverbalized) language planing effects in a recent re-publication of a substantial body of Lulesaami narratives originally collected by Just Qvigstad between 1885 and 1926. Although editorial interference in Subbtsasa Nordlándas is obvious on almost every level of lexicogrammar, it is particularly visible concerning copula clitization and the encoding of predicative possession. As this study will show, even though both phenomena can be encountered in the original narratives (Qvigstad 1929), their re-publication presents a significantly alternated distribution. Due to these and other alternations, the re-publication can no longer be considered representative of Lulesaami as spoken in Norway 1885-1926, but must be considered an instance of 21st century Lulesaami. The dangers of misunderstanding the re-publication as an instance of late 19th and early 20th century Lulesaami will be demonstrated by approaching the appearance and distribution of adnet and etymologically related forms thereof in South, Ume-, Pite- and Lulesaami in predicative possession.
