Abstract: Urbanization is one of the most important causes of habitat loss and alteration and presents several challenges for animals and their survival. In reptile populations, it is possible to observe the presence of wounds and morphological abnormalities that negatively impact their survival. These abnormalities may be the result of failed predation events, aggression between individuals, or human activities. In this research we describe the observation of anomalies in two individuals of Aspidoscelis costatus costatus (Western Mexico Whiptail) in an urban area. The first one presented lost digits in a limb. The second one presented a fractured and deformed tail. Understanding the implications of wounds in urban lizards can lead to better management of urban lizard populations.
