Abstract: This July 2025 issue of the Journal of Mixed Methods Research (JMMR) includes an editorial, four articles, and a media review. In the editorial, Bullock and Poth (2025), with affiliations in education, introduce the seventh virtual special issue of JMMR.Virtual special issues, published online only, compile previously published JMMR papers on a particular topic. In this virtual special issue, focused on complexity in mixed methods research, Bullock and Poth have compiled 16 articles, including both empirical and theoretical/methodological articles, along with one editorial and a commentary. These works are organized according to four themes: (1) recognizing complexity and its potential, (2) elaborating on early complexity conceptualizations, (3) designing integration with complexity at the forefront, and (4) navigating the messiness of complexity. This virtual special issue highlights the evolution of the concept of complexity within JMMR and reflects on how the use of complexity theory in theorizing and in designing mixed methods studies can help advance the field.Next, Sommer et al. (2025) provide a call for papers for a special issue on mixed methods research for socio-spatial studies, an area of growing interest, especially due to its innovative and multidisciplinary nature.Interested authors can submit their manuscripts until February
