Contradictions and Optimization Paths of E-Commerce Models in Second-Hand Mobile Phone Transactions from a Circular Economy Perspective

Year: 2025
Type: article
With the increasing popularity of smartphones and the growing problem of electronic waste, second-hand mobile phone transactions have become a critical pathway for advancing the circular economy and sustainable development. Based on policy support and market dynamics, this study focuses on the structural contradictions inherent in three e-commerce models for second-hand mobile phone transactions—C2C, B2C, and pseudo-C2C. Specifically, the C2C model faces trust risks due to non-standardization and information asymmetry; the B2C model sacrifices price advantages for service quality, conflicting with consumers’ cost-effectiveness demands; and the pseudo-C2C model exacerbates market deterioration by inducing a “market for lemons” effect. To address these issues, this paper proposes a three-dimensional optimization framework integrating “model fusion, technological governance, and access mechanisms”, including promoting a B2C2B model with third-party device inspection, mitigating risks of generative AI abuse, and establishing professional merchant. The research provides theoretical and practical insights for improving governance of second-hand transaction platforms and enhancing the efficiency of the circular economy.
