L’esthétique photographique dans L’Appareil-photo de Jean-Philippe Toussaint : fragmentation, minimalisme et instantanéité
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This article examines how L’Appareil-photo by Jean-Philippe Toussaint transposes the photographic aesthetic into literary narration. We analyze how fragmentation, instantaneity, and non-writing structure the narrative by favoring contemplation over action. Through image-scenes, the author freezes ephemeral moments and invites a perception of suspended time. This photographic aesthetic, based on minimalism and discontinuity, aligns with the legacy of postmodernism and the Nouveau Roman, deconstructing traditional narrative con-ventions. The text thus becomes a space where the image takes precedence over the plot, rede-fining the poetics of the contemporary novel.
