Abstract: This study analyses the friendship between Eugène Sue and Goubaux, as well as the latter’s collaboration in the literary production of the former. First, we study Goubaux’s collaborative procedure and explicit involvement in the theatrical adaptations of Sue’s novels. Then, we examine in more detail the possible input of Goubaux in the conception and the composition of two novels of Sue, Arhtur and Les Mystères de Paris, through a documented analysis of their contemporaries’ affirmations, as well as the press of their time, all of which allow us to confirm Goubaux’s contribution in both novels through his literary counsel and suggestions.
