Requirements for Hospital Innovation Labs: A Mixed Methods Study

Abstract: Innovation labs (ILs) drive technology development and cross-industry collaboration. This mixed methods study examines the key requirements for establishing ILs in German hospitals. Through thirteen interviews with IL managers from various industries and hospital management, eight major themes were identified, highlighting the importance of organizational structure, staff engagement, and interdepartmental collaboration. A subsequent survey among clinicians will validate these findings, providing insights for integrating ILs into hospital settings.
