Noval synthesis of N‐substituted pyrroles by green catalyst: Apple juice
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Heterocyclic chemistry relies heavily on the Paal–Knorr reaction to synthesize pyrroles, however conventional methods frequently use hazardous chemicals or unfavorable circumstances. This work presents a new, environmentally friendly process for the synthesis of N‐substituted pyrroles that uses apple juice as a sustainable catalyst. By using apple juice's inherent acidity and bioactive ingredients, the reaction makes it possible to cyclize primary amines with dimethoxytetrahydrofuran/2,5‐hexanedione in mild conditions without the need of dangerous chemicals. The method offers a renewable substitute for the synthesis of pyrrole derivatives and exhibits good yields, ease of operation, and adherence to green chemistry principles. These derivatives are essential for use in material sciences, agrochemicals, and medicines. This creative method demonstrates how natural catalysts can promote sustainable organic synthesis while lessening its negative effects on the environment.
